The 2-geared MS/VS engine

MS/VS engine, 2-geared

This engine was found on most Puchs, MS, VS, SKF, amongst others. A rather uncomplicated work horse, that established Puchs good reputation. Some noise when shifting gear, but strong and robust. Exist both as pedal-started or kick-started with hand shifter or foot shifted with a drop arm under the engine unit. Later with so called "cric-crac" gearbox.

The automatic shifted Puch engine was introduced on the 1968 midnight blue MV model. Two-stepped gearbox that characterizes by a soft and smooth gearshift. The automatic Puch engines are usually in very good condition. They where not very popular amongst young moped owners, and is therefore nearly always un-tinkered.
The 4-geared M engine

M engine, 4-geared

The 4-geared export and race engine. Was sold for competition use, cross and trial. My American Dakota (VZ) has this type of engine, and the effect is about 5 to 6 hp. Cylinder in light alloy, 17 mm Bing carburetor and alternately with a larger fan. An unusual engine in Sweden.
The 4-geared VSV engine

VSV engine, 4-geared

This 4-geared engine was a sensation when it was introduced on the 1968 Mexico (DS 50VN). Many Mexico mopeds where robbed of these engines, and many where the Dakota owners that dreamed of such an engine. The number of Mexicos with the right engine is therefore limited, which contributes to the Mexicos high value.
